Member Highlight - Germaine Foley, CEO at "Financially Fit and Savvy"

Hi! My name is Germaine Foley and my IG Handle is @financiallyfitandsavvy. I am currently building my empire while working a full time job. I help women, in the messy middle class, become so financially fit that they forget it’s payday. I do this by helping them to better manage their finances and still have fun! And No...they won't have to give up their lattes, trips to the salon or occasional family vacations. I’m most proud of the paid membership community that I created called The Financially Fit Society. In this membership members go from where they are financially to where they want to be by following my Financial Success Path Framework. I am an expert at helping women feel less stressed and more confident with their money. As a result they are able to pay off debt, save money, build credit, make more money, etc. You should listen to me because I paid off over $200,000 in debt and have inspired others to follow the same path.

Tell us and our lovely readers what is it that you do?

I help women, in the messy middle class, become so financially fit that they forget it’s payday. I do this by helping them to better manage their finances and still have fun!

What is your story? How did you end up here?

Have you ever wanted something so bad, that you were willing to give up almost anything to achieve it? Well, that’s how I felt about paying off the $200,000 debt load that weighed on me like a ton of bricks. I wanted to free myself from the burden of all the stress: student loans, car payments and credit card bills, 401K loans. So that’s what I did, I grabbed my husband by the hand, and together we embarked on a journey to pay off over $200,000 dollars in debt. No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. We actually paid off over $200,000!

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t just wake up one day and decide that paying off debt sounded like a fun thing to do. The truth is, debt brought so much pain and agony into my life that I was tired of being tired. You see, I know what it’s like to live in overdraft protection mode. I also know what it feels like to have my debit card declined at the grocery store and to pretend that I accidentally handed the cashier an expired card. Sadly, I also know what it’s like to earn a six figure income and to still feel so hopeless and afraid that I filed for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy!

Truthfully, filing for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy did nothing but ruin my credit and temporarily stop the creditors from harassing me because over $200,000 of our debt was not bankrupt-able. There was no quick fix! I had to change! I had to learn how to properly manage the money that God had entrusted me with. So that’s what I did. My husband and I rolled up our sleeves and went about the business of changing our lives. It wasn’t easy, neither was it comfortable. We needed a paradigm shift, a plan, prayer and perseverance. I’m happy to report that because of our hard work, and change in mindset, I now know what it’s like to be on the other side of that scary, hopeless place and I’m here to tell you that it feels sooo good!

What I’m about to say may sound a little crazy to some, but I am actually grateful for every single one of those encounters because they made me into the financially savvy woman I am today. I know for sure that I went through those horrific and humiliating moments so that I can walk side by side with other women and teach them how to take their lives back and create the finances of their Dreams.

Do you have a “WHY” for why you do what you do?

My why is to leave a legacy for my children, and to show women like me what is possible.

What are your plans for the future?

My future plans are to create a variety of products and services to help women go from where they are financially to where they want to be. For example, I plan to welcome new members into my current membership, The Financially Fit Society, in September. Also, I have a money mindset and budgeting mini course that’s available, on demand, for those who are ready to get moving in the right direction. It’s called: “Budget Like A Boss: How to Go From Not Knowing Where to Start to Building Your Bank.” Next, I’m designing an arm of my business that will help women rebuild their credit. Finally, I’m planning to offer a limited number of 1:1 coaching packages to women who want to fast track their efforts to becoming financially fit and money savvy.

What is the best about being who you are?

The best part about being me is that I’m able to show my sons that we humans can do hard things and make our dreams come true. In addition, I love being able to help women transform their relationship with money and blow their own minds in regards to what they are able to accomplish financially.

What does your day look like?

At the moment, I still work my 9-5 so that’s where I spend most of my time during the day. I also prioritize spending quality time with my husband and children. I spend my evenings and weekends building my empire.

What business-related tips and advice do you have for our readers?

My advice is to have a strong why for wanting to build your business. Your why, if it’s strong enough, will keep you moving forward when things get hard. There have been many times that I wanted to give up, but because my why is stronger than any discomfort that I might face I am able to keep moving forward. I highly recommend a podcast called The Life Coach School https://thelifecoachschool.com/podcasts/. Episodes 251 and 289 speak to both of these.

What mindset advice do you have for our readers?

Here’s what I know for sure, our thoughts become our reality, so we need to be sure that we’re aware of what we’re thinking. If you find yourself unable to manage your emotions then the first question to ask yourself is: “What am I thinking?” This is because our thoughts
create our emotions and our emotions drive our behaviors and our behaviors are what gives us our results. This is a chain reaction that begins with a single thought.

You also joined one of our courses - which one? Why did you join it, and did it end up being helpful in any way?

I joined Instagram Empire Masterclass which is all about building your brand on Instagram.
